Edgewood Vista 11/19/12

Edgewood Vista Visit and Craft 2012

This week we visited patients suffering from Alzheimer's at the Edgewood Vista Senior Living Facility.  It was nice for the patients to see the young children and interact.  We brought cookies and a craft. The children and a couple patients made turkeys out of clay, googly eyes and feathers.
It was a really positive experience for both the residents and children.

Bitterroot Gymnastics Class 11/14/12

Bitterroot Gymnastics Class 2012

We got a taste of what a gymnastics class at Bitterroot Gymnastics is like.  Two instructors led the children through fun activities and obstacle courses. These classes do require some parent involvement for children under 3 years if you are interested in enrolling in courses through the PLAY Network.  If you are interested in pursuing gymnastics classes with your children please contact us at playnetworkmissoula@gmail.com.

Great Harvest 11/7/2012

Great Harvest Bread Company 2012 (Tour #1)

We had the opportunity to see how they make all their goodies at Great Harvest!  We had a tour of the kitchen, the kids got to taste wheat berries, see dough mixing, see dough being weighed and kneaded, play with dough, see the huge rotating oven, and finally savor a sample of bread.  It was fun and informative.  This tour had a child limit on it so these pictures are from the Wednesday tour.

Visit Great Harvest anytime for a free bread sample or online at www.greatharvestmissoula.com.

PEAS Farm 9/18/2012

PEAS Farm 2012

This local farm is located on Duncan Drive up the Rattlesnake.  The produce from the garden goes to CSA shares which individuals can invest in for the season, or you can volunteer in exchange for a half share of food.  The children got to taste fresh veggies, including parsley, carrots, tomatoes (actually a fruit), and kale.  They explored an onion forest, fed scraps to the pigs, and saw a monster pumpkin.  Despite the smokey weather, parents were thrilled with this tour.

The PEAS Farm website is www.gardencityharvest.org/peasfarm.
